Dallas Texas Alcohol Rehab

Alcoholism is a progressive disease.  Alcohol Addiction may start as a harmless social crutch but can grow into a debilitating disease that can alienate friends, family members and loved ones.  What begins as a way to blow off steam after a stressful day can become a dangerous addiction that slowly encroaches on the alcoholic's life, causing increasingly harmful consequences.  Everyone surrounding an alcoholic is negatively affected by their addiction.  These toxic relationships increase levels of anxiety and depression in the alcoholic, leading them to isolate and crawl further into their alcohol addiction. The cycle of addiction is self-perpetuating, it feeds into itself, causing the alcoholic to reach further depths of despair as they continue to hit a lower rock bottom.

Untreated alcoholism can result in severe health issues and even death.  Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Alcoholic Hepatitis and Cirrhosis of the liver are all direct results of alcoholic drinking.  Alcoholism can lead to injury or death by more circuitous routes as well.  Car accidents, falls, suicide, domestic violence, on-the-job injuries and even homicide may be the result of a drinking problem.

There are more than enough reasons for a person suffering from alcohol addiction to want to quit.  When an alcoholic decides to stop drinking they should do so under medical supervision.  Along with Benzodiazepines, alcohol is one of the few abused substances where the addict can die from their withdrawals. Luckily, Riverwalk has a solution.  Riverwalk Ranch is a Dallas, Texas Alcohol Treatment Center that specializes in alcoholism.  From medically assisted alcohol detox to residential inpatient rehab, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) to aftercare, Riverwalk is there for you every step of the way.

Co-occurring Disorders

At Riverwalk Ranch, we know that alcoholism is often the byproduct of another mental health disorder.  Co-occurring Disorders and Dual Diagnosis are the medical terms for when a substance abuse issue affects a person with a preexisting or simultaneous mental health issue.  The most common examples of these are depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. At Riverwalk Ranch our trained clinicians get to the root of the problem by diagnosing all of the issues that can contribute to a person's alcohol addiction.  We can treat these issues with medication when necessary, but we also utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques to help our patients recover.

Alcohol Recovery

Our alcohol treatment program focusses on individualized care. We know that no two alcoholics are exactly alike.  Because of this, our clinicians design personalized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each client. The clients at our alcohol rehab participate in various types of group therapy, individual therapy and recreational therapy. This includes participating in social events, activities and various other treatments throughout the day designed to help clients overcome their alcohol addiction.

We also offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach our clients how to relate to the world in a healthier way.  Our therapists teach alcoholics coping skills that help them deal with stressors (something that causes a state of tension).  These stressors are often the triggers that lead alcoholics to drink.  By giving our clients the tools to deal with these stressful situations we provide them with an alternative to their past addictive behavior.

The goal of our program is to set our clients on the path to long-term success.  Alcoholics are often plagued by continual relapse.  Like any other person suffering from a chronic disease, alcoholics need the support of medical professionals and a caring community to help them manage their symptoms and live a healthy life.  At our alcohol treatment center, we offer medications to treat the physical effects of cravings and withdrawal.  We provide counseling to address the feelings and thoughts that caused the alcoholic to start drinking excessively.  And we introduce our clients to a community of recovering alcoholics that will provide the support and accountability necessary for lasting recovery.

Alcohol Treatment Options

Once you realize that you or a loved one needs help with a drinking problem, the question of how to proceed can be confusing.  There are multiple levels of care available for people looking to treat their alcohol addiction.  Which type you choose depends upon the alcoholic's level of alcohol intake, drinking history, mental status, personality and schedule of availability.  When making these decisions it is crucial to consult a knowledgable substance abuse therapist or counselor.  At Riverwalk Ranch, our addiction specialists are available to help you make these tough decisions.  Let us help you choose the treatment options that are right for you or your loved one.

Inpatient Rehab -

Residential, or inpatient treatment offers the most extensive level of care.  During inpatient rehab, our clients will live full-time at our large residential facility on a Ranch in Mansfield, Texas.  Inpatient treatment is recommended for alcoholics that need round-the-clock monitoring by medical professionals.  During their stay, our clients can enjoy access to our pool, meditation garden, gym, movie theatre, basketball court, fishing ponds, walking trails and more.  These excursions offer a healthy way to relax after a full schedule of individual therapy and group counseling sessions.

This level of treatment is also beneficial in that it builds the highest level of camaraderie amongst our patients.  The benefits of Therapeutic Communities have been well documented for the treatment of substance abuse disorders.  Many people find that the relationships that they develop during inpatient rehab provide them with the resources they need to stay accountable and engaged in their sobriety.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) -

After, or in lieu of, participating in the inpatient rehab program our clients can continue to receive intensive treatment in a Partial Hospitalization Program.  At this level of care, the patient will often live at our onsite housing, back at home or in a sober living environment.  During the day our clients have access to therapy, counseling and aftercare support for a minimum of six hours a day, five days a week.  This is our most thorough level of outpatient rehab, it gives our clients the freedom to spend time with their friends and family outside of our treatment facility.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) -

Outpatient rehab offers alcoholics the ability to ease off of the intensive levels of care provided by inpatient or Partial Hospitalization Programs.  This is recommended as a method to taper off psychological treatment while still maintaining the necessary level of aftercare and accountability necessary to promote lasting recovery.  At this level of care, we offer clients the ability to receive medical and psychiatric treatment while still maintaining their daily responsibilities.

We offer flexible scheduling to allow our clients in IOP to pursue their personal and professional responsibilities without being completely cut off from their sober community.  Recovering alcoholics have access to our treatments three to five days a week.  Riverwalk Ranch offers clients in our Intensive Outpatient Program individual counseling sessions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), group therapy, family therapy and life coaching.  Before our patients graduate from our IOP program they are introduced to 12 Step Groups and life skill workshops to give them the best chance possible for continuing sobriety.
